چکیده
Response of pore-water pressure has crucial effect on the engineering geological performance permafrost ground. However, there is a dearth literature measurement in frozen soils due to challenges with regard technical and operational method. To validate generation reveal its variation property at subfreezing temperatures close 0°C, miniature transducer was utilized conduct number confined compression tests. Double-wall structure avoided damage during soil sampling. The sample bottom perceived fluctuation as varying air imposed surface, proving connectivity among pores hysteretic transmission. Pore-water experienced progressive increase followed by slow dissipation under invariable load temperature conditions when water drainage permitted, while monotonic observed for an undrained sample. With decreasing temperature, smaller peak more dilatory were displayed. When exposed stepwise warming process, similar obtained abrupt rise turning point temperature.

Experimental Investigation on Excess Pore Water Pressure in Soft Soil-Foundations under Minor Shocks
In this study, shaking table tests are performed to investigate the behavior of excess pore water pressure in different soft soil-foundations of soil-structure interaction (SSI) system. The variation of the behaviors under cycled minor shock is observed. Moreover, The generation and variation mechanism of excess pore water pressure under earthquake excitation in different soft soilfoundations a...

Various marine fishes, amphibians, and reptiles survive at temperatures several degrees below the freezing point of their body fluids by virtue of adaptive mechanisms that promote freeze avoidance or freeze tolerance. Freezing is avoided by a colligative depression of the blood freezing point, supercooling of the body fluids, or the biosynthesis of unique antifreeze proteins that inhibit the pr...
متن کاملEffects of Frozen Soil on Snowmelt Runoff and Soil Water Storage at a Continental Scale
The presence of ice in soil dramatically alters soil hydrologic and thermal properties. Despite this important role, many recent studies show that explicitly including the hydrologic effects of soil ice in land surface models degrades the simulation of runoff in cold regions. This paper addresses this dilemma by employing the Community Land Model version 2.0 (CLM2.0) developed at the National C...
متن کاملEstimation of pore water pressure in the body of earth dams during construction with intelligent models
One of the basic measures in managing the stability of earth dams is to accurately estimate the amount of pore water pressure in the body of the dam during and after its construction. In this study, three different models of artificial neural network (ANN), adaptive neural-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) and gene expression programming (GEP) to estimate the pore water pressure in the body of Kab...
